Caroline and Matt’s destination wedding in South Carolina began at The Anchorage, a historic Beaufort home, where Caroline was surrounded by her family. As the final touches were being made for Caroline to step into her dress, the Veterans Day parade serendipitously began outside. Everyone went out to the balcony to watch and wave, with cheers and best wishes from the parade participants on the street below. It set a heartwarming and joyous tone for the day.
The wedding festivities unfolded at the stunning Oldfield River Club, a historic venue boasting breathtaking views of the May River marshes and swaying palmetto trees. The intimate ceremony was held on the home’s front lawn, followed by cocktails and appetizers served fireside and on the porch, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. As twilight descended, the newlyweds and their guests moved to a clear tent on the lawn, where they danced the night away.
One of my favorite moments came right after the vows were exchanged. As they strolled towards the marsh for newlywed portraits, the wind picked up giving the veil beautiful movement surrounding Caroline and Matt. Despite the lack of golden hour sunlight and the slightly gray and misty day, the windswept images captured the couple’s pure joy in its most authentic form.
Caroline and Matt’s wedding was a perfect blend of Southern charm, heartfelt gratitude, and pure happiness.
