It's always an honor and a privilege when an industry professional, much less a planner, trusts you to photograph their own wedding. I work with Jayne and Debbie of Jayne Bubis Events every year, so when Debbie asked me to photograph her daughter's November wedding at their home in Brentwood, Tennessee (in three months) it was an immediate yes.
Clare is so outgoing, with a bubbly personality, and knows what she wants, so I knew the day would be so much fun. She and Andrew chose to have their wedding at her family home — an intimate ceremony and celebration, including the friends that mean the most to them. Clare, an avid reader, hand-picked a book for each of their guests, and wrote "You're Written Into Our Story..." XX, Clare & Andrew".
After their living room ceremony, family and guests enjoyed cocktails on the sun porch. Later, everyone made their way into the tent, covered in deep green draping, for a seated dinner party, music and dancing.
The tables were dripping with gorgeous, unique and colorful florals. Their family friend, Mary Neal hand-embroidered napkins, where personalized candle votives were also at each place setting. Andrew is a fourth-generation farmer in the Mississippi Delta, so the bride and groom hand-picked cotton stems from his fields and used them in the napkin rings as a way to weave his family's legacy into the celebration.
After their first dance was the much anticipated moment of the evening — Clare and Andrew's gender reveal. I won't spoil the surprise, and instead, let the images in this post reveal the gender of their baby. I loved that all throughout the day, Clare carried her ultra sound photos to include in their wedding day images. She had waited a long time to become a wife and mom, and was thrilled to share the news.
Clare and Andrew asked Johnny Haffner, a long-time family friend and chef, to be at the helm of their dinner party because they wanted to share their love for elevated food experiences. The menu featured a starter charcuterie for the table and Italian wedding soup. Next came butternut ravioli and an intermezzo of champagne sorbet topped with a poached pear. The main event was surf and turf finished with Johnny himself creating bananas foster while the crowd watched the flaming entertainment. Guests took home a box of Dessert Designs by Leland wedding cake, for a late night snack. It the perfect sweet ending.
Congrats to the newlyweds and parents-to-be!
